It's basically a collection of some old pieces, some pieces I have lying around which haven't been exhibited, as well as some new works!
Here is a bit of a preview, snaps taken from my studio, so not gab quality but you get the gist!

Exhibition opens Monday the 1st of July and runs all month, so pop in and grab a beer and check my shit out!

'Feathers' piece

So Feathers is an amazing group exhibition being organised by local (Adelaide) emerging curator, Katherine Coppock!

The exhibition held in Felt Space ( Peel st. Adelaide City )

Will transform the gallery into a giant nest, upon which a plethora (23 I think) of artists are presenting their work!

Here is my progress!
It's 100x1600

Not sure of the name yet!
Although I would like for the viewer to create their own story, the artwork is about that dichotomy within myself... Part of me wants to be the bull and charge ahead, creating/ destroying and making change... Then there is the stupid bird on my back, the other half of me...

My nickname amongst family is Spoggy, a baby sparrow... (because I used to flit about the house like a Spoggy)
But sometimes I feel like that part of me is fucked and drags me down, it's trying to fly, but instead it perches on my back, creating havoc...

Really.., those parts of me work together, I do charge ahead, but the Spoggy inspires me and reminds me part of me can fly!

Anyhoo...

Here are some pictures of my progress!
Comments are welcome!

So what this c***'s doing now!

So I planned to have these guys out before the month began, but I'll be off by a day... That's right I didn't hear anyone give a fuck!

Basically I am relaunching my dick dolls as a public art/ treasure hunt game for freaks like me who think dolls with big dicks are cool!

But what you need to do to get involved is go to:

adelaidedickdolls.tumblr.com

This is where you can find out where to find them and where to post pictures once you do!

Also a big thanks to Adelaide Magazine for the amazing article they did on me!

Xoxox

So what this c***'s been up to (continued)

Also I have painted this baby, which is pretty fab, I was doing it for the Graham F Smith Peace Foundation dinner and silent art auction, but turns out the paint is STILL wet. So now it's just at home waiting to be hung somewhere, you want it???

So what this c***'s been up to!

So I havn't posted on here in a while, well! I've been working on a few projects that are coming up.
Also I was commissioned to do a couple of pictures for Marble Bar in Adelaide CBD (I'll take better pictures when they are up which should be V soon!)

Them and Halos Exhibition

Them and Halos is my final solo exhibition for 2012

Feel free to come down to Suzie Wong's Room
(120 Port Road
Hindmarsh
South Australia
5007)

On Tuesday the 4th of September from 6pm-9pm there will be a night of chilled out arty viewing, some nibbles and things... and general fabulousness!

Them and Halos combines the aesthetics of impressionism with an expressionistic way of painting. Using my fingers and oil paints straight from the tube, I mix the materials upon the board creating emotive figurative pieces of work.

Re: Conversations

Conversations.

I gave this title to the series to describe the relationship that I have with my work, and the process through which I have come to create the series.
So I began the series with no concept of their completion, I begin by splashing paint, and then creating lines and circles, there is no concept of where they should go, it's simply a process of marking the canvas, and then responding to that with another mark, or a symbol.
As I worked i realized I couldn't make it completely random, I developed an aesthetic which becomes hard to break from.
I think the process says a lot, in that even though I begin each piece not knowing what I'm going to do next, it becomes impossible not to create a system of rules, such asI can only use one or two lines to make the shape, or that each painting has a particular character representing each piece, I think once you discover a particular aesthetic it becomes a bit like a song stuck in your head, or a strange thought or desire you can't stop thinking about, begging you to act upon.
In the end the work becomes an oxymoron, it's useless didacticism, it's like a text book about spoons, and I guess that's just what art is, I mean it can be informative, but in the end isn't it really just a luxury item?
Through my way of conversing with the canvas, people get a look at my artistic process, my ideas and maybe a little slice of my subconscious. In turn this helps create your own conversation with the piece as it asks you to discover the meaning behind it's design, it's color and it's symbolism. Maybe this will help you to realize there is more to a two dimensional surface than the perspective which is thrust upon there by the painter, and that maybe there can be a lot to say about a few triangles around a man with a flaccid dick and a bird growing out of his arm?
Enjoy the conversation...
